Flu season is on the brink and will be with us until next spring. Center for disease control and prevention (CDC) recommends that all persons older than six months be vaccinated.
During the influenza season 2011/2012, 128 million people in the U.S., which is 42 per cent, were vaccinated against the flu. CDC experts have pointed out that vaccination against influenza preventing five million cases of illness and 40,000 cases of hospitalization.
But myths and misinformation circulating as well as viruses. In addition we bring you the facts about the vaccine against influenza.

Myth 1: You can win or cooling of the vaccine against swine flu
Flu vaccine does not contain live virus, but only viral proteins, said dr. Dennis Cunningham, infektolog state children's hospital in Ohio. "It is impossible to win or be spread through the flu vaccine," he said. After receiving the injection some people may feel pain near the drilling of the vaccine or have temperature, but these are reactions to the vaccine, and not viral reactions.

Myth 2: The flu vaccine is safe for pregnant women or babies
Flu vaccine is safe for pregnant women and babies with greater than six months. American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynaecology recommends vaccinating pregnant women, because the vaccine not only protects the mother but also its fruit. It has been shown that this vaccine reduces the risk of the birth of the child that died. It is also recommended vaccination of children older than six months because this reduces the risk of mortality from influenza.

Myth 3: antibiotics are sufficient to fight against flu
Antibiotics kill bacteria, but causes flu virus. There are antiviral drugs that fight against infections, but they act only if i get within 48 hours after the symptoms begin. Also, medicines can help to shorten the duration of flu for a day or two to hospital patients.

Myth 4: You do not need to get the flu vaccine if you have received in the past year
There are two reasons due to which people should receive the vaccine every year:
1. Viruses circulate from year to year and there are hundreds of different. Every year, medical experts identify the virus that causes illness during influenza season and vaccine made against him.
2. Vaccine protects the immune system about eight months. For example, if you get the vaccine in August are safe until March, but these antibodies would not be developed until the next flu season.

Myth 5: The vaccine against influenza contains tiomerosal, which can be harmful
Never has been shown that tiomerosali, konservansi containing mercury is harmful. Type of mercury, which damages the nervous system is metilzhiva and for this reason, experts recommend that pregnant women avoid certain types of fish like swordfish.
Although it has been shown that it is not harmful, since 2001 U.S. mercury was removed from vaccines. Vaccinations against influenza are available in two forms: in large bottles which contain many doses and small bottle containing a single dose. In large bottles smaller dose tiomerosolit which ensures that not to come to the creation of bacteria, and is not present in individual doses.

Myth 6: because the flu can feel pain, but this is not true disease so you do not need vaccine
"Flu is very serious disease," said Cunningham. Each year from the disease fall ill between 15 and 60 million people. More than 200,000 end up in hospital. In the U.S. each year between 3,000 and 50,000 people die from complications arising due to the flu.
The reason why people do not get the flu as a serious illness is to disturb the stomach flu, respectively misleading influence viral infection.
"True influenza is an infection of the lungs and respiratory tract. May have fever and feel pain in the body. While the stomach flu is caused by a virus called norovirus, have diarrhea, vomit and have other digestive problems, while influenza has these symptoms, "said Cunningham. (Globisot)
